Reflection 1 - Neo Wei Hong (14)

1. Based on your understanding of facts and opinions, why do you think this important to reporters/ journalists in the world of online journalism?

Ans: Different facts and opinions in the world of online journalism helps the reporters to gather information from different sources. This allows the information gathered to be not only seen from one point of view but many others as well, therefore making the information more accurate. Having more accurate information, the particular source of the information given will gain more trust from people viewing from around the world, as the information is not so biased since it gathers information from more sources.

2. How could the limitations explored in one of the articles be controlled?

Ans: The limitations explored in the articles can be controlled by having everyone to be a responsible internet user. Postsby authors on the internet should always be considered twice (or even many more times) before posting, as different people with different views may not agree with one another and 'conflict' may occur between these people due to the posts (Evidences can be seen in posts from online forums).

3. What are some responsibilities of discerning readers?

Ans: Readers should always verify their information and double-check with other sources of the same information to ensure reliability of the source. One without having done any researches should not jump to conclusions immediately after reading from the world of online journalism as false information can be posted and even claimed to be true (even when it is not) by any anonymous internet-user without any approval.
