Activity 3: Analysis of Letter (by {Elgin Low (08)})

Ethos: The writer is using ethos to his advantage, as shown in saying that his child died in a gun accident, denoting that he has experience in what it is like to be somewhat involved in a gun accident. This shows that he knows what he is doing.

Pathos: The writer goes on talk on how dangerous it is that guns are allowed in the United States. This makes the recipient feel that it is a very real, and very major threat to the country's citizens, so that the congressman will feel motivated to change laws in the U.S. about gun control

Logos: The writer gives statistics, which help tune the reader's sense of logic as the statistics offered denoted that it was very threatening if gun control was not implemented.
